Mariann Asanuma found her fascination with LEGO at an early age when she received her first set at the age of six. Born and raised in the San Diego, California Area, she is a self taught LEGO artist. Mariann's dream of becoming a Master Model Builder seemed almost impossible when she was a child; all the LEGOLAND parks were in Europe! But then fate stepped in an landed LEGOLAND California on her doorstep in March of 1999.
In January of 2003 Mariann achieved her dream of working in the LEGOLAND Model Shop- after trying for the job five times. She worked there for over four years building every thing from a life size pirate, a four foot long lady bug, and the Miniland Las Vegas sign. Her motto: " From big to small I can build it all".
Mariann continued her Lego journey becoming the world's first female freelance LEGO Artist and LEGO instruction author in early 2007. The first book- How to Build a Round Ball with Square Bricks! shows readers the techniques and theory of how a Master Model Designer creates a LEGO ball. Her second book Beyond the Ball shows how to add color and design to your LEGO creations.
Through her series of books- "Building Secrets from the Masters" Mariann hopes to teach the reader a new way of thinking about LEGO model building and design. She understands all aspects of LEGO building and design and would like to impart that knowledge on the next generation.
